KITI COLLEGE Worship Challenge

What a weekend it was! Running from Friday 24th through Sunday 26th February 2017 was the theme from Revelation 5:12 with a #Jesus, Worthy of Worship. Students, visiting friends, children, families as well as a staff member came on board to get a word from the Lord. Sound music, inspired preaching and teachings from normal but spirit filled men and women of God adorned the weekend for the glory and honor of God. It's one of those events the end seems like the beginning. The bottom line is that only one deserves our worship, Jesus.
The workshops on leadership, music excellence as well as striking a balance between academics and ministry left an influence that won't fade. The first teaching on ministry gifting gave as a better look on the talents and gifts that have been bestowed upon us.

Outstanding fact was the collaboration of ministers from Mavuno(Pastor Joshua Nyamu) and PEFA(Pastor Njoroge) Churches, as well as a representative from FOCUS(Br. Birgen Ben) staff from Nakuru. What a blessing!
As a team, all we can say is that we are humbled to be used of the Lord. Ou daily desire is to know Him more, and as he gives the grace, we shall let the world know His precepts, moreso on matters true worship.
Think through this line from Mike Michira, a member and one of the speakers during the wekend:

True worship is not about the SONG you sing,
It is about the LIFE you live.
Does it glorify GOD?
Below are snapshots of the weekend that was. We look forward to inspire more, as the Lord sends us.

Expectant Heart

Praise the Lord!
It's another year that the our Lord Jesus Christ has given us. Just imagine, 364 and 1/4 days, free oxygen, free sunlight, and still, He hasn't revoked his gift of Salvation to us. In this year, here at Obededoms say we just get of the steering wheel. We surrender it to the expert and leave Him be the all-time driver. We hope that is your resolution.
This post is meant to ask you to keep in touch with us throughout the journey. Check our social media updates: twitter, instagram and facebook and allow God to minister in your life. Just a snippet of what is coming up:
A wedding by one of us Joseph Waiguru in April. However, his marital journey kickstarts us of in February where we shall be ministering at his fiance's home church. Such a joy. We then have a weekend challenge in high school. As the year matures we shall also minister through overnights and Worship Experiences.
In August, watch out for a grand worship workshop that will engage both the young and old, inspiring nations to worship in truth and spirit. Jhn 4:24, Is 6
In october, we can't wait for another worship event and finally December the awesome closure of the year. Make a point to be part if not in all, one activity.
N/B: As invites come, you'll get updates on other weddings that we shall be ministering in. God bless you abundantly. Have a fruitful year.

REASON FOR THE SEASON

Why do we have Christmas? Why do we celebrate? Is it necessary anyway? Well, these are question I have asked myself over a long time. In some cases, I have also been confronted by friends who are either not Christians or non-religious to give answers. In this post, we’ll look at the importance of this day. Just keep in mind that the objective is not to convince you to celebrate during Christmas, however, to illustrate why Jesus Came on earth in the first place.
Isaiah 9:6-7
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even forever.  The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.
Luke1:26- 38
And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary. And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be. And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:
And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren. For with God nothing shall be impossible. And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.

Prophet Isaiah prophesied the coming of Jesus and listed His titles approximately 400 years before it was fulfilled. When Jesus begins his ministry in Luke 4, he declares that He is anointed to set captives free and bring healing to this ailing world. Mary, being a virgin and faithfully waiting for her husband, gets astonishing news of the favor she has received-carrying the savior of the Universe. She humbly accepts the call despite the implications she is aware of about a young woman getting pregnant out of wedlock in Jerusalem.
In this regard, one has to generally realize that the birth of Jesus is a big deal. Not only beause it was prophesied but because of the mission he comes to accomplish. In John 3:16, his mission is clearly stated. To save us from the wrath of God. Friends, remembering the birth of Jesus to me is tied to what He does 33 ½ years later. Dying for you and I. The apostle John marvels in his epistle when he states, “Behold what manner of love…” 1Joh 3:1. I can’t imagine how things could have been had He not decided to lay down His life. I have received free eternal life, free deliverance from the pangs of the ancient serpent, because I accepted the call . You can too, if you receive Him today. It’s very simple; accepting his Lordship and believing that you are the reason He came. Then you’ll realize that He is the reason for your celebration.
If you feel it’s the right time for you to join this league of freedom and liberation from sin kindly read this scripture and just prayer the simple prayer below. You will gain access to the Kingdom of God. In this case, celebrating Christmas will be more meaningful to you.

Joh1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name. Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

Prayer:
Dear Lord, Thank you for sending your son to die for me. I accept your lordship today. Forgive my sins. I choose to live for you. Help me to tell others about you. Let my life be your reflection to the world. In the name of Jesus Christ, I am born again Amen.

If you prayed the above prayer, you are now born again. Tell someone about it. Look for a bible-based church where you will grow spiritually. In case you have a challenge deciding which church to attend kindly comment below with your email address and we’ll chat one on one and grow with you. Just note that we the Obededoms is not a church but we will recommend authentic churches around you that you can join.
For those who are born again I believe this message is still relevant to you because of what it reminds you of. Remember how much joy you had in the first year of salvation? Do you miss it? Read through the above scriptures for a renewal of mind and edification. I am personally edified.  God bless you as you listen to the tune below of the song from DoweMusic done featuring part of The Obededoms team.
Tagline: You are the reason He came, He is the reason you celebrate. Merry Christmas!!

Psalms121:2-8
My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.
He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.
Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand.
The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.
The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.
The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.

Congratulations!

The Heart of Worship

Sermon at Masinde Muliro University CU on 25th November, 2016
What is worship?
Reverence or honor accorded to the deity.
John 4:21  Lying prostrate or bowing before God. It is total surrender. You can’t fight when you are in such a posture. This means that our worship has to exalt God above everything in our lives
Forms of worship
Physical: Involves the activities we do that we can be seen
·         Singing or declaring praise, Psalms 100, Col 3:16
·         Dancing, 1 Sam 6:12, Ex 15: 20
·         Service Acts 16: 16 2cor 9:7, Acts 9:36
Spiritual: Presides whatever is done in the physical otherwise it’s all in vain
Romans 12: 1, Psalms 51
Heart of Worship: Worshipper’s attitude
Isaiah 6: Psalms 51: Mark 14, Rom 1:16

  • ·         A yearning to know the creator
  • ·         Acknowledgement of one’s frailty
  • ·         Since it’s about God, am not afraid/ashamed of what the rest of the world thinks
  • ·         I know my God, and that He has pardoned me, so I am not condemned, Rom 1:8, Heb 10:25

John 4: 21 Jesus and the Samaritan: Jesus Teaching on Worship
A time is coming and now has come!
It is important to discover that the worship in spirit and truth began to the Samaritans (known by the Jews as idol worshippers) immediately Jesus finished his conversation with the woman.
·         She discovered that her life was bare in God’s eyes: Until I realize that there’s nothing I can hide from God, I am not yet ready to worship
·         Beyond boundaries: Jesus first speaks in the same way as the woman but then makes an invitation that surpasses the traditional boundaries. John 4:22
·         She discovered who Jesus was: My worship is not real if I do not know whom I am worshiping. Vv. 29
·         It is not a one man’s special gift: the woman couldn’t hold it to herself. It’s not worship if I am just contented without a desire to share with the rest of the world
Even now, the call is still on. This invitation is for the VIPs and all of us are. A VIP is someone who the host accords special service. Out of the whole universe, God has chosen the human race in this respect. Would you hearken to this call dear friend? Psalms 95: 8. It’s not about how many songs of praise you know, not about your mastery of scripture, not whether you are from a priestly or a heathen home. The call is universal, the qualification is, are you human? Now is the time, to do the whole duty of man, Worship!
